Busy Busy Holidays

We have not stopped so far this holidays, I am exhausted! We have shopped, picniced, park walked, boated, wall climbed (well just the kids lol) partied and cleaned! Not to mention the kids having various sleep outs/overs and numerous walks along the prom.

Sadly I am starting to suffer, my foot is a tad sore and numb at the same time, I keep stumbling! My knee is playing up and my arms and hands are really very painful. Im keeping going as much as I can but I am really very glad the kids are away this weekend so I can recover!! They are worth every ache and pain though :)

Hair

I love having my hair done, but after a few really crap cuts I am always stressed at the thought. My usual place has changed hands and as I thought it was expensive anyway have decided to try another. I had 2 friends use a salon up the road so thought I would give it a go. It was 36 quid cheaper for a cut and colour!! I was a bit dubious and wasnt sure what to have done but after chatting with the hairdresser I just let her get on with it!!
It was the right choice as its the best colour I have ever had I am really pleased with it. The cut was really just shaping what I have and it looks fab. As usual the young recently qualified hairdressers prove me right when I say they are better than the older more experienced ones at knowing the right way to go with my hair.

I liked it there so much Jakes first ever salon cut is happening today!!

Time to face facts!!

I had lulled myself into a false sense of health and well being, I do it every summer cos the sun always makes me feel the pain less and for a while I can do more. Shopping and even a night out or 2! But after a week of denial I am back in a right nasty flare up.
My tendons in my feet have slipped or what ever they do, I can't bend them properly and they are very sore and swollen. My right hand fingers are very stiff and 2 are numb.My left hand and both wrists are a little stuff, ache and are a bit swollen. My arms feel like they have been repeatedly punched and even 2 finger typing is painful. My thighs are burning and walking is staggery and slow. And its only going to get worse!!!

Its going to be a very long week!

Walking the line....

There is a fine line between where you need to intervene as a parent and where you need to just let a child learn for themselves. I am really struggling with this at the moment with my eldest. At 13 he needs and deserves to be treated almost as an adult with responsibilities and expectations. Yet I am frequently finding that he needs me more than ever to support him.
He recently made the decision not to visit his fathers house anymore, he still sees his dad but obviously only for a short period of time. This whilst being a very grown up thing to do, taking control of a situation he didn't like and asserting himself enough to make it understood how he feels is a tremendously difficult thing to do even as an adult at times, let alone as a rather insecure 13yr old with trust issues.
Since then he has in part blossomed with confidence due in no small part to new friendship he has made with a really kind and understanding boy in his year. But in the same vain his self confidence is falling again, he doubts himself when he has to rely on himself and consequently he is becoming a little clingy.
Its fine though, I dont mind supporting him at all, I love his company~ the issue is now he is half way to France and because he has no friends with him he is texting me wanting to come home. He wishes he hadn't gone and really I cant blame him. Ive text him back, told him to chill and put the mp3 player on and just shut his eyes. I know he will love where he is going so am hoping if he can get through the coach journey he will pick up when there and be more positive about coming back. Its no fun being alone in a crowd of people you sort of know is it.

Now I am kicking myself for not contacting the teacher and explaining his problems but the school is fully aware and really it should be down to them to ensure all teachers are aware of any individual needs isn't it. All i can do now is be there when he comes home and give him a big cuddle! I hope this doesn't put him back and makes him feel proud of the achievement of getting through an awkward situation

OMG MEN!!

Why is it every man I meet that is either a potential friend or partner is a possesive idiot? Really clingy and attention seeking.... what have I got to do to meet a man (other than my BFF Daz) who can

A. Trust me
B. Not smother me
C. Let me be me and not have to conform to what they want me to be
D. Not expect me to jump when they ask me out/to do what they want

Really? Is that so much to ask for or am I totally unrealistic? I just dont know anymore, maybe I am just to used to being me and the kids to even want a man....

The single life for me it is!!

Its been a while

Well its been a while since I blogged, lots has happened.................. My son no longer goes to his dads at weekends huuuuuuuge drama there!
My final divorce application has gone to court to the absolute should finally be through in a mater of weeks!! whoooooooooooooooop! I really cannot wait to be officially really me again! I still get pitying looks about being single but I have come to the conclusion that they just (like I used to) cannot imagine how being single works when you have children etc but to be honest I LOVE IT!! I have never been so content in myself. Sure id like some sex but really being single is the best thing for me. I finally have the time to be the sort of mum I really want to be, can do all the things the kids want to (within budget constraints of course) and still have enough time to be me and have some fun too. Dunno if i would have time for a man right now even if I wanted one!! LOL

Back to Blogging

And so I return to blogging - I stopped because it was too easy to rant about a stupid person and the link being on my facebook was leaving me open to abuse!

I finally got diasnosis and now I am waiting for treatment and fighting for DLA

I won a competiton in a music festival - well not me alone LOL me and 6 others entered the 8 or less catagory and we won after 2 rehearsals and having never sung in that line up before Awsome!!

Life!!

Well life does go up and down doesnt it!!
Two of my friends are laid up with bad backs - one is supposed to be going away tomorrow! I hope she can make it. Both are suffering bless them, so difficult in the holidays with the chilren home.
Another family I know have just lost their mum:@( very sad as I had just got back in touch via facebook and did not realise she was so poorly.
My foot has swollen up and tonight looks like a elephants foot! cant quite see my toes properly!
I dropped and broke my Laptop...

But on the up I made 50 quid on my house insurance renewal and saved 40 quid a month on it -
I managed to get the handles I wanted for the bathroom
I have finally managed to get my weight to stablise, my nurse was so pleased with me. She was adamant I didnt fuss about loosing it and cut out too much but to concentrate on getting it stable, which I have now managed for 3 months. An achievement indeed when it was piling on so fast.
Now on her advice I am not dieting but simply thinking about what I eat before I eat it, cutting down on my portion size at tea time and only having 2-3 units of booze a week.
I also have to try and eat a bit more veg, I do eat it but some days only manage 2 of my 5 a day.
And then a little exercise, this is difficult for me but Ill try and do what she asked.
So not really massive changes but achieveable for the next three months till my next visit to my loverly nurse.

Georgia and Emily - scary Pirates !!

We have been having Monsoon weather lately! the gutters cant cope and the rain just washes over and runs in torrents! Its been so bad even the drain hasn't coped!! its forced its way round the boiler vent into my kitchen - i have pots everywhere catching it!! So id quite like to have a bit less rain for a few days so it can dry out pretty please!!

Georgia had a lovely birthday invite to attend today - Timmy's mum and dad are both fantastic entertainers I love their parties! So I was quite pleased when georgia asked me to stay :@) it was fun!

My mouse has gone mad!!

It keeps clicking randomly I cant seem to control it!! I think its time for a new one somehow!

I have been tutoring my son at home for a week now, I took him out because the bullying got utterly ridiculous. We have been doing various bits and pieces, nothing to heavy, just to find out what he does and doesn't know. Its been fun and challenging and a nightmare all rolled into one. We have a couple of projects this week, a family tree and Jake is writing an essay for my mum. Throw in a mix of various maths and spelling things, swimming and gardening oh and cooking the week is gonna be full!

I got a lovely card today - a thank you from my mate Lou, thanks hun, it was a lovely gesture :@) I really appreciate it xxxx

Warning: Cricket balls win in a fight !!

I had just sat down with my lunch and taken my first mouthful when the phone rang. I just knew it would be one of the kids!! Sure enough Jake had been hit in the eye with a cricket ball!! oh flip! Apparently schools are not allowed to treat eye injury's so off to A@E we went.
I hate hospitals, in fact I loathe them, but of course I had to make sure my boy was ok. He had to have an X-ray, then there was the suggestion of surgery if it showed the dent was a fracture (panic!) But thank goodness the X-ray was fine so no need for further treatment.

I felt utterly sick waiting for the x-ray results I can tell you, I shall be asking the school why they dont wear helmets. He is ok though apart from a huge shiner :@)

Build a bear holiday

Had a mixed week away - typically I got a cold grrrrrrrrrrr - having just gotten over a chest infection and thinking I was gonna be well i got a full on head cold the day the kids and i were going away!! Bloody typical.
The kids were great though and were happy with just scooting around a parking point in the middle of the forest. We discovered a sainsburys and bought some nice grub and a dvd so the kids were set for what was a very wet evening.
Thankfully Thursday was hot and sunny so i dosed myself as much as possible and off to Bournemouth we went - We met my friend Dave (empty belly) whom I have known for many years online - their first encounter with a barmy Oz and they thought he was great. Dave left us after lunch and we went off to the oceanairum on the sea front. I have been loads of times but it still facinates me when turtle feeding time happens - funny huge snappy things they are.
On to the beach for half hour to play in the sand - a novelty for Bognorians lol

We strolled into town - i wanted to take the children to the *build a bear* factory which they both loved. We chose our animals to stuff - me a cat -georgia a bunny - jake a dog - put noises in, stuffed them, gave them a heart and dressed them.
It was expensive but it was a lovely bonding experience and I loved every second of it. We now have a memory we can see and i have already ordered the bears Santa hats and a stocking for the children for christmas!! Soppy mare that I am!! Love my kids me

nearly holiday time!!

Almost time to go on holiday YAY having a short break first then taking my darling kiddies to the new forest...We cant wait, all so excited. We are staying in a Travelodge again, we share a family room and just chill, getting where ever when ever and sleeping in which ever bed we fall into. Breakfast when we can be bothered and lunch some where nice.
We suit ourselves the whole time we are away and that is just what we like, no routine, no rush ....loverly.

big Sis lisa sent me this today, its old but makes me smile ...

Guts or Balls? Yes, there is a medical distinction.

We've all heard about men having guts or balls with respect to having
courage, but do you really know the difference between these two
terms?
In an effort to keep you informed (as I always try to do), and to
alleviate further confusion, the following definitions are listed
below:

GUTS - is arriving home late after a night out with the guys, being
met by your wife with a broom in her hand, and having the guts to ask:
'Are you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?

BALLS - is coming home late after a night out with the guys, smelling
of perfume and beer, lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on
the butt and having the balls to say: 'You're next, Chubby.'

I hope this clears up any confusion regarding these two definitions.
Medically speaking, there is no difference in the outcome, since both
ultimately result in death.

Head space

Have not blogged for a while cos I have had things in my head I have not wanted to write about, it would be all to easy to shoot my mouth off and say things I may or may not mean!! Some times its just better to have a thunk in private first. So thunk I have :@) I have decided just to let things pass by..... I am going to stop worrying about things I cant control but at the same time I am going to stand firm in what I think is right. Thats all very vague I know but some things are best left unsaid.

Been missing my mate Lou - shes been laid up being pampered (hopefully) its felt a bit odd not chatting to her, guess thats what is going to be like a bit when our kids go to different schools...thankfully we have the net so we can chat still :@)

happy but guilty!!

Georgia got in to the school she chose, I am very pleased it seems well organised and she was extremely relaxed and happy on our visit. A big difference to visiting another school, which was actually our catchment school.
But as with all ups there is a down, a few of her very good friends will not be going to the same school. So after 4 of her 7 years with these friends at nursery and school she will have to say goodbye. "Its ok mummy" she tells me " I know where Em lives I can go and see her when I want" cant argue with that logic but I know she will miss Em in particular. She was adamant where she wanted to go though, it was in the end her choice. Dont stop me feeling guilty though!! I made a bad choice for jake when it came to moving on from infants so hopefully by it being her choice she will feel better about it and make the effort to fit in and do well.

Fingers crossed if you can cross 'em
